Founded in New England and rooted in regional ecology, Design Outside came to Studio Quiche as a young, ambitious landscape architecture firm ready to grow into its own identity. With a quickly expanding team and a portfolio gaining momentum, they needed a brand that could evolve with them—season to season, project to project.

The competitive landscape was saturated with sameness: monochromatic greens, minimalist sans-serifs, and polished neutrality. We saw an opportunity to steer clear of the expected.

Drawing inspiration from what the eye naturally follows in a landscape—rays of yellow, open sky, and glimmers of water—we built a palette that felt atmospheric and distinct. A visual breath of fresh air in a field dominated by foliage tones.

The brand identity balanced intellect and craft. Typography nods to traditional English letterforms, reinforcing the thoughtful, scholarly process co-founders Dennis and Tim bring to their work. Their practice is deeply considered—and the brand needed to reflect that, without ornament.
